Bracken Bruising

Bracken Bruising with the use of a quad bike and purpose built roller, a highly effective, more environmental and non chemical control of Bracken

The Problem

This invasive plant produces a dense canopy of fronds, blocking out the light to other plants and producing harmful chemicals.

Timing

Successful mechanical control is best carried out in June/July when maximum withdrawal of energy is taking place from the rhizome.

Operation

The 'Brackenbruiser' roller provides the exact amount of force to produce small bruises on the plant stem. This allows sap to pass up from the Rhizome and in effect bleed.

Results

Growth the following year is reduced as the plant is unable to pass nutrients to the root and rhizome. Grasses and other plants emerge supporting a variety of butterflies and insects.
